BEAUMONT

27 May

I just had a quick myspace banter with a Sydney producer by the name of Beaumont who’s starting to make waves in my playlist. Recent works include a remix of Ladyhawke and Empire of the Sun which sit somewhere near a Valerie / Dream Wave / French Synth genre. I love that his production is smooth yet not overproduced – retaining some of that rough analogue feel with glitchy synth stabs and high end hiss.

His own original tracks are well done – warm saturated synths with simple yet effective and catchy melodies … although I would (selfishly) love him to have a crack at something with a bit more darkness to build more tension up and down the track. It’s pretty tough competition out there with the whole Valerie / Binary movement but I think Beaumont certainly has the talent and if he tackled the commission of some vocals he will surely be one to watch in the genre in time to come.

I was going to post a reproduction of our Q&A interview but it’s turned into a massive post so I think we’ll leak it later (like when he’s famous).  Make sure you give him a bit of myspace love and if you’re a promoter in Sydney – get in contact, he’s available to play and currently unsigned!  Let us know what you think – we need comments to make Hypem people!!
