RANDOM HIGH ROTATION

13 Feb

Just some of the tracks I’m listening to at the moment (and one of my lomo pics)!

THE NEW STUFF ….

MATTHEW DEAR – DON AND SHERRI (HOT CHIP REMIX)
Sweet vocals … somewhere between gearing up and winding down. Back to mine!

DOES IT OFFEND YOU YEAH? – DAWN OF THE DEAD
Sweet nu-rave ballad maybe ….

DAMN ARMS – DESTINATION PT. II (Radio Edit)
Not as good as part one but I love the funk feel.

SEBASTIEN TELLIER – KILOMETER (DONOVAN REMIX)
Watch me gyrate on the dancefloor (don’t move your legs) …

THE HOURS – SEE THE LIGHT (CALVIN HARRIS REMIX)
For so long I thought Calvin was just another commercial chump … maybe he is, but this rocks my dance floor….

THE OLD STUFF …

BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW – ZODIAC GIRLS (7″ Version)
Lots of synth and vocoder – dark, dirty and rather distorted … right up my alleyway.

LA DUSSELDORF – GELD
Circa late 70s and 80s … formed after the well publicised breakdown of Neu! Bowie went as far to say, “the soundtrack of the 80s”.

FUJIYA & MIYAGI – COLLARBONE
The ‘bounce’ in this track just makes me want to strut! What is it? Timing between the bass guitar and drums maybe? Love the dreamy guitars.

NEU!

13 Feb

Neu! (which is German for “New!”) was formed in the early 1970s right smack bang in the middle of the German ‘Krautrock’ experimental music scene by Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother after their split from Kraftwerk. Their debut album, which some consider to be the first “new-wave” album of all time, was said to be recorded in just four nights by the (now) legendary producer Conny Plank… fans and those influenced include Bowie.

NEU! – SUPER

NEU! – HERO
